πŸŒπŸ™οΈ World Cities Day 2024: Launch of the SCEJU Project

On the 31st of October 2024, we celebrated World Cities Day under the theme, β€œYouth climate changemakers: Catalysing local action for urban sustainability.” In line with this theme, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Strengthening Civil Society Engagement for a Just and Sustainable Urbanization (SCEJU) project, a three-year initiative (2024-2026) co-funded by the European Union.

The SCEJU project, led by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES-Kenya) in partnership with the Civil Society Urban Development Platform (CSUDP) and the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), aims to strengthen democracy and inclusive processes in urban quality of life, climate change, and biodiversity in Kenya.

Despite the enactment of the Sustainable Waste Management Act 2022, challenges remain in compliance and equitable water service provision, especially in informal settlements. Our project will address these gaps by empowering youth, women, and vulnerable groups in Kisumu, Nakuru, and Makueni counties to tackle critical issues in sustainable water and waste management.

Join us in this journey towards creating sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban spaces. Together, we can make a significant impact on urban sustainability and climate justice.
